This is a place for expression and dialog along particular themes, so we'll be looking for images that further that goal. Here are some general guidelines:

Add copy to your posts - use words to help illuminate the image, or to help visitors understand why you took the picture, or what it means to you.

Images should have relevance to a wide or deep audience - an image with personal meaning to the author but little relevance to visitors, might be in question.

•

Submissions should support or expand upon the thread direction - for example if a thread's direction was 'freedom', an image showing the results of freedom would be just as welcome.

•

In order to keep a thread (and the site) diverse, we will not accept too many of the same kind of image within a thread.

Ultimately we reserve the right to decide what images are posted to the site, but if you disagree with our decisions, please let us know and we'll start a dialog.

You can submit to any thread (current or past) at any time. Newly submitted or updated images will be approved within a few hours (24 max). Until this time your image will be visible only to you, and will display a special note indicating that it is pending approval. If your image remains unapproved for more than 24 hours, we recommend that you review it for compliance with the guidelines.

Image Format & Size

We accept files in JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP or GIF formats. Images are dynamically resized to fit the site and are ultimately converted to JPEG format. We prefer JPEG originals wherever possible.

We accept files up to 4 megabytes (4096 K) in size. If your file exceeds 4 MB, you'll have to scale it down beforehand.

•

Either image width or height must measure at least 200 pixels.

•

The maximum image area (width × height) is 1.44 million pixels, equivalent to dimensions of 1200×1200, 2400×600, etc.

•

Please do not submit images which contain borders or edge graphics. The only exception are scanned images which may include the original black film border if you choose. No photos with graphics placed over the image or images demonstrating highly manipulated Photoshop work will be accepted.

Keep it Real

We’re trying to build a community based on creativity and dialog. Please be reasonable when submitting information about yourself or your image (date, location, country). Obvious misinformation or exaggeration will lead to the rejection of your submission. When you're commenting or engaging in dialog about the work of others, please keep it under control. Debate is good. Abuse will not be tolerated.
